I wrote how we started Dividend Stocks portfolio for my daughter and keep track of our progress here.
We didn't purchase any new stocks this month.
Overall portfolio gain so far is +14.95%, which is very close to 2k.
The other day I saw my daughter paystub, she works as hostess at Asian Restaurant, and her total earnings for this year were almost identical to her total gain of her portfolio. We are not even counting dividends! So after I explained it to her, I think she likes her stock market experience so far.
I am still trying to decide if we need to sell some of positions and collect gains or just keep them for now.
Like for example SE (Spectra Energy) has 44% gain. So we can sell shares she has and buy shares of two new different stocks which trading at lowest right now. I might do this but I am not sure. Spectra has good dividends and I know this is a good company. What do you think?
Her other stock, which is 42% gain is Amazon, but this one she wants to keep for sure, she said. It was her totally own pick(non dividend stock) and she believes in Amazon keeps growing... :)
