Project: Dividend Stocks for Teenager - list of stocks

I wrote how we started Dividend Stocks portfolio for my daughter and keep track of our progress here.

My daughter finally found a part-time job as a hostess in an Asian restaurant. She likes this job and can work during breaks and even school year.  She also helps as a receptionist from time to time at a small doctor's office.

Anyway she was not spending much money because she lives home and I pay most of her expenses. So she finally accumulated $1200.00, which she agreed to invest into one stock.

As usual I made a list of stocks (out of my big list of stocks), which trading below 1 year projections. To make it easier for her I put a column "hypothetical value in 1 year" if stock reach 1 year target. I know it can be more or less but at least it can give her idea. Also You might noticed I highlighted "dividend yield more than 3% and hypothetical earnings more than $200. So we will see what stock she will pick this time.

May 2016 Dividends and Passive Income Progress

It's time to report my May progress.

In May besides my monthly Loyal3  investments I purchased

10 shares of AAPL - Apple
21 shares of VLO - Valero Energy.

Dividends received in April 2016:
AAPL$1.20
BMO$16.82

Project: Dividend Stocks for Teenager May Dividends update

I wrote how we started Dividend Stocks portfolio for my daughter and keep track of our progress here.

We didn't purchase any stocks in May. Hopefully she will decide to purchase more stocks soon because she got a summer job at a restaurant and she plans to work there through the year too.

I suggested to open Roth IRA account since she started working but so far she declined the idea of saving money for retirement.

Overall portfolio gain so far is +8.36%, the only stock which is lacking is still LHO.

May Dividends:

PG$11.58
RY$12.64
T$18.25
Total $42.47

Do you know about SEP IRA account?

I found out about SEP IRA account about 3 years ago. I have my SEP IRA with Fidelity.

How do you know if you qualify for SEP IRA?

"A Simplified Employee Pension Individual Retirement Arrangement (SEP IRA) is a variation of the Individual Retirement Account used in the United States. SEP IRAs are adopted by business owners to provide retirement benefits for themselves and their employees."

If you are a small business owner or receive 1099-Misc and use Schedule C on your taxes, you can invest 25% of your 1099-Misc earnings (no more than $53k) and this is in addition to your regular IRA/Roth IRA account!

So basically you can invest and let it grow tax free $5,500 into IRA/Roth PLUS 25% of your self employment earnings. I was surprised when I learned this fact!

My Watch List for this Week

My watch list for this week include these stocks:

ABT - Abbott Laboratories - Healthcare is trading close to 52 weeks low at $36.96 with Analyst Price target low $44 and high $49.
Div&Yield: 2.74% for more than 15 years.

I am watching this stock for a while. I am not a big fan of pharmaceutical companies and my plan is to get rid of some in my portfolio, but this one looks fine to me to invest in.

BUD - Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV - Beverages- Brewers is back to my watch list because the price of this stock is down to $122 with Analyst price target low $121.70 and high $145.
Div&Yield: 3.97% for 7 years.

RGR - Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. Firearms and Castings trading at $64.65 right now, with Analyst Price target low $68 low and high $80. I don't like firearms much and if I pick this one, I will go with not so many stocks just for portfolio diversification.
Div&Yield: 2.17% for more than 15 years.

What stocks do you have on your watch list for this week?
